September 26th, On This day in Elvis history


September 26, 1955
Elvis began another tour booked by Bob Neal. Elvis performed at the Junior High School Gym, Gilmer, Texas.
September 26, 1956
Elvis drove to Tupelo with his parents, Nick Adams and Barbara Hearn. Elvis had to appear at 
the Mississippi Alabama Fair And Diary Show. He performed here for the first time at the age of 10. 
Elvis was wearing a blue velvet shirt, made for him by Natalie Wood's dressmaker. Tammy Wynette, 
at the age of 14, watched the show from the first row. The show was filmed by Fox Movietone News,
 but the bad audio made it almost a "silent" movie.
AND
The town of Tupelo, MS, declared "Elvis Presley Day."
September 26, 1957
Elvis and some friends spent the evening at the Fairgrounds, attracting a huge crowd.
September 26, 1964
Elvis and the whole caravan left for Hollywood.
September 26, 1968
Elvis went to the Memphian, like almost every night for this period in Graceland. He was accompanied
 by Priscilla, Sonny, Gee Gee, Charlie and Lamar. They watched The Thomas Crown Affair, 
with Steve McQueen and Hang 'Em High, with Clint Eastwood.
September 26, 1970
Elvis spent the weekend in Palm Springs.
September 26, 1974
Elvis flew out of Memphis to begin his 4th tour of 1974.
September 26, 1976
Elvis flew from Palm Springs to Memphis.
September 26, 2000
The Elvis album "White Christmas" was released on CD.
