September 27th, On This day in Elvis history



 

September 27, 1957
Elvis drove to Tupelo with Anita Wood and his parents and some friends. In the local paper
 Elvis was called "the best ambassador any town could have" and urged all townspeople to
 give him a warm welcome.
Elvis performed at the Fairgrounds, Tupelo, for the benefit of the planned Elvis Presley Youth Center.
 There was a crowd of 12,000 people and he was accompanied by Hank Garland, D.J. Fontana 
and Chuck Wiggington, a friend of D.J., on bass.
September 27,1960
Elvis's father, Vernon, visited him on the set of "G.I. Blues."
September 27, 1966
Elvis went to Paramount for preproduction for Easy Come, Easy Go. He attended a music meeting 
with Hall Wallis and John Rich, director.
September 27, 1969
Elvis returned to Memphis.

Elvis's single "Clean Up Your Own Back Yard" hit #21 in the U.S.
September 27, 1974
Elvis performed at the University of Maryland Cole Fieldhouse, College Park, Maryland. The media as 
well as the fans were puzzled about Elvis performance throughout this tour. Tony Brown however witnessed 
Elvis getting out of his limousine, fall to his knees and even sleepwalk through the entire show.
